As many of you know I have a sheltie dog whom I love. Her name is Lady Bella and she enjoys to play in the backyard and sunbathing. She’s the joy of our family and we don’t want her to get fleas or pulgas that are very common in Florida. Preventing fleas on the lawn that could put in risk my dog’s health and my family’s wellbeing is a priority for me and my husband.
Fleas aren’t a good thing, Bella primarily lives inside the house and just goes out for walks and when we play ball with her in the backyard. She also enjoys being out with me taking care of my vegetable garden while she sunbathes and watches the birds and the butterflies that visit our garden.
Fleas live in the grass and hop onto our dogs despite being treated with veterinarian topical products and other medications. They cause itch and irritate the dog’s skin plus if ingested by the dog can cause tapeworm which brings other problems like avert damage to the dog’s body and transmission of the worm to humans specially children.
If our dog gets infested, fleas also can affect other animals that might live in the household plus getting rid of fleas inside the house is an ordeal. We have four indoor cats and we care about them too so having our pets protected and the lawn free of fleas is very important for us to keep our home safe and clean. We have been using a very good product called Ortho® Bug B Gon® Insect Killer for Lawns. This product helps preventing fleas and also takes care of other insect problems like ants, asian ladybeetles, chinch bugs (these can really destroy your beautiful lawn), crickets, cutworms, earwigs, grasshoppers, lawn moths, millipedes, spiders, ticks (really bad for our pets and us too), and weevils. This poduct is effective for killing and preventing around 100 listed insects for up to 3 months, so in my opinion it is worth it and so easy to apply. My husband is the one that does the job, he uses a spreader and that does the trick.
