Inspired in adding protein to our pico de gallo we made a fresh chickpeas salsa. Made with canned chickpeas, freshly chopped tomatoes, jalapeños, purple onion, and cilantro. All seasoned with olive oil, oregano, lemon juice and all purpose latin seasoning. This fresh chickpeas salsa is very easy to make and goes perfect as a garnish, to serve as a side dish or to enjoy with chips for a wholesome appetizer.

We have made lentil salsa before but have not tried to use garbanzos mixed with pico de gallo. The result was a chunky tasty salsa that goes perfect on salmon burgers, tacos, quesadillas and much more. You can stuff avocados with the chickpeas salsa for a vegetarian option too.
This is a light side dish that could be served with with grilled meats and fish too. This chickpeas salsa is so versatile. Economic and you can make it in less than fifteen minutes. If you are looking for vegetarian lighter options to enjoy during lent season or just to add texture to main dishes this salsa is a winner.
The best thing is that this chickpea salsa is made with simple ingredients that probably you already have in your pantry and fridge. Or that you can find easily at your local supermarket. If you ask me, I always have fresh produce and canned food items like chickpeas, beans, tuna, salmon and others.
You never know when you need to whip and quick meal. Having a good stocked pantry with essentials plus some fresh produce could be a lifesaver. On your next shopping trip make sure to buy few essentials and the ingredients to make this yummy garbanzo salsa. You will love it and your family too!
